Dabo Swinney needs this five-star talent to commit to his Clemson football program for 2022.

Clemson football head coach Dabo Swinney needs to make up some serious ground in recruitment, and it starts by landing the best player in-state in five-star cornerback Jeadyn Lukus.

According to the 247Sports Composite, Lukus is the No. 1 player from South Carolina, the No. 6 cornerback in this recruiting cycle and the No. 36 overall prospect for 2022. The Mauldin, South Carolina native has 25 official offers, but is looking at these three schools: Clemson, North Carolina and Ohio State. Clemson is the favorite to get him, but Swinney and his staff must put in the work.

Here is a look at what Lukus could do in Clemson football uniform should he commit to the Tigers.

Clemson football: Will the Tigers land five-star CB Jeadyn Lukus?

Clemson is really behind in recruiting for this cycle. The Tigers have the No. 24 class in the country with only four commitments thus far. They rank third in the ACC, and that is not going to cut it if the Tigers want to continue to reign supreme in their Power 5 conference. This is why landing Lukus is so important. The Tigers cannot let him go to North Carolina by any means.

The good news for Clemson is of the five 247Sports recruiting analysts who have made a prediction on Lukus, all of them have him to Swinney’s program. Though not a lock to go to Clemson, it feels like his recruitment will come down to either the Tigers or the Tar Heels with the Buckeyes being a distant third for his commitment. He would be Clemson’s top recruit for 2022.
