Kris Bryant has left the Chicago Cubs game after being hit by a pitch in the first inning.

The Chicago Cubs will be without star third baseman Kris Bryant for the rest of Tuesday night’s game against the New York Mets.

Bryant was hit on the left hand by Mets starter Taijuan Walker in the top of the first. He initially stayed in the game, fielding in the bottom half of the first, but was replaced by Patrick Wisdom in the bottom of the second.

Given that he initially stayed in the lineup, the extent of Bryant’s injury is unclear. It’s possible the Cubs manager David Ross simply chose to be cautious with his best hitter. The team should provide an injury update following tonight’s game.

Bryant is batting .292 through more than 225 at bats so far this season. He has 13 home runs and currently leads MLB All-Star voting amongst National League third basemen. Once rumored to be on the trading block, he appears to have secured his place on the Cubs roster with his play and the team’s performance thus far in 2021. We wish him a speedy recovery.

Next. This Cubs, Patrick Wisdom stat is impressive. dark
