University of Kentucky Basketball coach John Calipari shuts down any rumors of him trying to get back into the NBA.

NBA coaching openings are starting to increase, as a few teams decided to part ways with their former coaches. A name that always seems to come up when discussing potential candidates is Kentucky basketball coach John Calipari. He coached the New Jersey Nets for a brief time in the association, but he’s best known for his work in college basketball.

There was a Yahoo! report suggesting Calipari was maxed out at Kentucky and open to the idea of returning to the NBA. Shortly after the report began to circulate, Calipari quickly shot them down with a message on Twitter dismissing the rumors.

"It’s that time of the year! Why do rumors always start when we’re in the middle of recruiting? I have the best job in the country w/ the best opportunity to impact young people & add value to their careers – and that hasn’t changed. This season can’t come fast enough! Let’s go!"

Just like that, any hopes NBA teams had of snatching Calipari from Kentucky were dashed. The college coach is happy where he is and isn’t looking for a change of scenery. Finding a way to rebound after an unusual and disappointing 9-16 season and missing the NCAA Tournament is what Calipari is more worried about than returning to the NBA.
