Atlanta Braves first baseman Freddie Freeman was the highlight of the first inning of the MLB All-Star Game.

On a yearly basis, the MLB All-Star Game gives fans the opportunity to watch some of the best players in the league participate in one game. Not only that, but viewers get to listen to some of said stars mic’d up in the middle of the Midsummer Classic.

During the top of the second inning, FOX Sports’ Joe Buck and John Smoltz cut to guest commentator Freddie Freeman of the Atlanta Braves, who just so happened to be manning first base for the National League. And to say that Freeman was the highlight of the second inning is a massive understatement.

Mic’d up Freddie Freeman was a highlight of the MLB All-Star Game

Perhaps the funniest moment of Freeman on the mic was when Milwaukee Brewers pitcher walked New York Yankees outfielder Aaron Judge on four pitches. Freeman lamented at it not just because there was a man on base, but because Judge would be standing next to him, thus making him look short. Hilarious stuff from Freeman there.

There were plenty of baseball fans and viewers of the All-Star Game who praised Freeman for his on-field commentary work.

When Freeman decides to hang up his cleats for good in the future, he may have a path to the commentary booth thanks to his work on the mic in the 2021 MLB All-Star Game.
