Pittsburgh Steelers backup quarterback Dwayne Haskins was hurt by his wife in a domestic violence incident over Fourth of July weekend in Las Vegas.

Dwayne Haskins‘ wife is facing felony charges of battery and domestic violence stemming from an altercation that happened between her and the Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback on July 3 in Las Vegas.

Kalabrya Gondrezick-Haskins and her husband were married back in March, but were in Las Vegas to renew their vows and celebrate with their friends over Fourth of July weekend. The Las Vegas Police Department was called to their hotel room around 2:30 a.m. PT. Haskins suffered a busted lip and supposedly lost a tooth in the process after their argument led to a physical altercation.

Haskins signed a one-year deal with the Steelers back in January after failing with Washington.

The 24-year-old quarterback is entering his third NFL season out of Ohio State. Despite being a Heisman Trophy finalist during his junior year in 2018, Haskins fizzled out in the nation’s capital after only two seasons. He had been a first-round pick by the then-Washington Redskins, but was cut from the team last year after an embarrassing incident where he violated COVID protocol.

While the Steelers organization is aware of the incident, they are not commenting at this time. With this being an ongoing investigation, it remains to be seen how this will impact Haskins’ roster status on the Steelers. He is supposed to back up Ben Roethlisberger this year, but his NFL career is largely hanging in the balances at this point. This is not the type of publicly he needs right now.

Haskins is once again in the news for something other than his play on an NFL football field.
