With Texas and Oklahoma joining the SEC in the near future, would Texas A&M make a return to the Big 12?

The college football world is set to undergo a change in the landscape in the very near future, and it involves two powerhouse football programs in the Oklahoma Sooners and Texas Longhorns. This week, Chip Brown of Horns247 reported both programs are set to leave the Big 12 conference and join the SEC.

With both programs expected to join the SEC after the Big 12’s grant of rights expires in 2025, would the Texas A&M Aggies consider a move back to the original conference?

Will Texas A&M leave SEC for Big 12?

Texas A&M athletics director Ross Bjork shared his thoughts on the potential of the Longhorns joining the SEC on July 21, days before the bombshell report dropped. Bjork said, via Mike Lucas of KAGS News, they “want to be the only SEC program in the state of Texas.” With this latest report, the Aggies will no longer hold the monopoly of being the only team from the Lone Star State in the conference.

For those of you Aggies fans wondering if they are going to up and leave the SEC, don’t count on it. Even though Texas A&M’s board of regents are meeting on Monday regarding “SEC issues,” Brent Zwerneman of the Houston Chronicle was told that there is “zero chance” the Aggies consider leaving the conference.

Even though Texas A&M may not like the idea of their in-state rivals joining their conference, they are certainly not going to leave over it. If anything, this only amplifies the rivalry between the Aggies and Longhorns, which will make for some great games down the road.
