Lamar Jackson misses Ravens practice with COVID-related issue

Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson was held out of practice due to COVID-19 issues.

Lamar Jackson is not practicing on Wednesday with the Baltimore Ravens due to a COVID-related issue.

The Ravens franchise quarterback tested positive for the coronavirus on Thanksgiving, which contributed to Baltimore’s game vs. the arch rival Pittsburgh Steelers being played at a later date on a Wednesday afternoon. Obviously, Jackson will be held out of Ravens practice as the NFL and Baltimore look at the results. This means more reps for Tyler Huntley and Trace McSorley then.

At this time, we do not know how long the former NFL MVP quarterback will have to be sidelined.

This is a critical season for the Baltimore organization, as well as its franchise quarterback. The Ravens should contend for a division crown along with the Cleveland Browns. While the Pittsburgh Steelers are probably only a wild card team at best this year, they should be feisty. We should also anticipate the Cincinnati Bengals to be much improved with it being Joe Burrow’s second season.

As for Jackson, this is year four for him out of Louisville. He is slated to make bank on a second contract, but it remains to be seen if he will be paid before Josh Allen of the Buffalo Bills or how much more he will make over his Heisman Trophy fraternity brother Baker Mayfield. Either way, Jackson is not practicing for the Ravens right now and the football team has to adjust accordingly.

With training camp firmly underway, expect more notable players to be sidelined with the virus.
