New York Yankees trade deadline acquisition Anthony Rizzo wasted little time making a statement, as he hit his first home run in his first game with the team.

Chicago Cubs fans were feeling pretty down for the past couple of days due to the team trading pivotal players ahead of the MLB trade deadline. One of the first big pieces to be moved was first baseman Anthony Rizzo, who was traded to the New York Yankees in exchange for outfielder Kevin Alcantara and right-handed pitcher Alexander Vizcaino.

Rizzo was a fan favorite in Chicago, and he quickly got on the New York faithful’s good side on Friday.

Rizzo made his Yankees debut on Friday night against the Miami Marlins. In his third at-bat of the game, Rizzo crushed a solo home run to the right field stands in the top of the sixth inning to give the Yankees a 1-0 lead.

That was a no-doubter by Rizzo, who wasted little time making a good impression on the Yankees. This was the reason why they made the move for him ahead of the deadline. The lineup was heavily right-handed, and Rizzo provided a left-handed power bat to help balance things.

Meanwhile, Cubs fans are shedding tears watching Rizzo make an immediate impact with his new team for at least the remainder of the season.
