Notre Dame football fans better have purchased Peacock by Sept. 11 vs. the Toledo Rockets.

With streaming being the wave of the future, it was only a matter of time before the Notre Dame football team was going to air a regular-season game exclusively on the NBC streaming platform Peacock.

That’s right. If you want to watch the Fighting Irish’s home opener vs. the Toledo Rockets out of the MAC, you are going to need to have bought Peacock. Notre Dame has that incredible television contract with NBC that airs the bulk of their games in the mid-afternoon window. Assuming a road victory over the Florida State Seminoles on Labor Day Weekend, Notre Dame should be 1-0.

“Dating back to airing Sunday football replays with Lindsey Nelson, we have always strived for innovation in the media space – our partnership with NBC and Peacock only solidifies that mission,” said Notre Dame athletic director Jack Swarbrick. “Bringing Notre Dame Football to Peacock is just the next step in the evolution of our relationship.”

Notre Dame football: Home opener vs. Toledo to be a Peacock exclusive

Not only will this 2:30 p.m. ET broadcast be airing exclusively on Peacock, but it will also be the first game featuring Drew Brees in the booth. The former Super Bowl champion quarterback of the New Orleans Saints and college football legend when he was with the Purdue Boilermakers will be alongside Mike Tirico this season. Kathryn Happen will be the sideline reporter for NBC.

While most Notre Dame fans are going to purchase Peacock if they have not already, what about this poor diehard supporters of Toledo football? This is a huge opportunity for the Rockets to take on the Golden Domers and instead of being able to watch it on NBC, they have to purchase Peacock to be able to watch their favorite team probably lose. You have to feel for Toledo fans…

Notre Dame airing games on Peacock only expands their potential revenue sources down the line.
