John Harbaugh gives update on Mark Andrews after medical emergency at Ravens practice

Baltimore Ravens head coach John Harbaugh gives an update on his tight end Mark Andrews.

A scary moment occurred at Baltimore Ravens practice on Thursday morning, as tight end Mark Andrews had to be taken away in an ambulance.

Andrews was dealing with major cramping and was seen limping around the field. He received an IV, but then collapsed shortly thereafter, resulting in him leaving practice by way of an ambulance. Ravens head coach John Harbaugh spoke with the media after practice saying that his star tight end is dealing with cramping. Baltimore will face the Carolina Panthers in Charlotte on Saturday.

2021 marks Andrews’ fourth NFL season out of Oklahoma. The former Sooners star tight end was a Pro Bowler in 2019 and has been arguably the most reliable receiving target in the Lamar Jackson era of the Ravens offense. Though they are very much a ground-centric attack, Andrews has established himself as one of the best tight ends in football. He is a big part of what they do.

As for if Andrews will play in the Ravens’ second preseason game on Saturday, let’s not count on it. Baltimore will have to travel to Charlotte to take on the Panthers. While this is still two days away, it is hard to justify playing a star player in a meaningless preseason game when he left practice in an ambulance 48 hours prior. Andrews should be fine, but he needs time to recover.

While it was a scary moment at Ravens practice, Baltimore believes Andrews will be all right.
