The Baltimore Ravens are finalizing a trade that would send cornerback Shaun Wade to the New England Patriots.

It’s not often you see two AFC powerhouses pull off a trade right before the start of the regular season, but that’s exactly what we have going on between the New England Patriots and Baltimore Ravens.

According to NFL insider Ian Rapoport, the Ravens are on the verge of sending rookie cornerback Shaun Wade to New England. A fifth-round pick out of Ohio State, Wade’s days in the AFC North appear to be over before things could really even take off for him.

Wade has looked sharp in the preseason, but the fact of the matter is that the Ravens are stacked when it comes to defensive back depth. With Wade’s value high right now, the team is shopping him to see what they could get in return. Clearly the Pats are interested and appear just a few steps away from getting things done.

Wade was projected to be a first-round pick in the 2020 NFL Draft. However, he decided to return to Columbus for one more season and it cost him. He ended up falling all the way down to the fifth round in April, which was obviously disappointing for him.

With that said, his play has stood out in the past couple of weeks. While Baltimore would love to keep him and see what he can get done, again, there just may not be space for him. Belichick would welcome him to Foxborough with open arms. Only time will tell if Wade ends up suiting up for the AFC East side, but it sure looks like things are going to happen here.
