The biggest game of college football’s opening weekend involves the Clemson Tigers and Georgia Bulldogs in a test of title challengers.

Fans don’t have to wait long at all this season for the first battle between Top 5 teams. Clemson and Georgia will get the first big crack at building their playoff resume in Week 1.

The Tigers won the ACC last year but came up short against Ohio State in the playoff semifinal. It’s up to new quarterback D.J. Uiagalelei to make sure they have a chance at the postseason again this season.

The Bulldogs were 8-2 last season, winning their final four games. They’re feeling extra confident with JT Daniels at the helm coming into the 2021 season.

Will the marquee matchup live up to the hype and give CFB fans some drama? Or will Clemson or Georgia make a big statement with a dominant victory?

Clemson vs. Georgia odds for Week 1

This one is practically a toss-up with Clemson holding status as a three-point favorite at the neutral site.

Clemson injury report vs. Georgia in Week 1

The wide receiver unit comes into Week 1 with some big injury concerns. Joseph Ngata has a hamstring problem and will be questionable. Justyn Ross is coming back from a serious neck injury but participated in a live scrimmage during camp and is expected to play.

Cornerback Fred Davis was charged with reckless driving this summer and remains with the team. However, his punishment may include a suspension.

Offensive lineman John Williams and backup quarterback Taisun Phommachanh are out for the season for the Tigers.

Georgia is dealing with their own injury woes. Wide receiver George Pickens and Dominick Blaylock won’t play on Saturday. Tight end Darnell Washington and defensive back Tykee Smith each have foot injuries and are doubtful. Running back Kenny McIntosh and offensive lineman Warren Ericson are questionable. Tight end Arik Gilbert is away from the team for personal reasons.

Clemson vs. Georgia prediction for Week 1

This one truly could go either way. Both teams should have their eyes set on the College Football Playoff and this will be their chance to prove they’re at that level.

Still, Clemson has a proven track record in big games like this while Georgia has bigger injury concerns and more questions to answer.
