Hurricane Ida shifts Oklahoma-Tulane season opener from New Orleans to Norman
Oklahoma and Tulane are moving their season opener to Norman due to Hurricane Ida’s landfall in the New Orleans and greater Louisiana area over the weekend.
Oklahoma football will begin their season at home in Norman instead of in New Orleans where Tulane was set to hose the No. 2 Sooners.
Due to Hurricane Ida making landfall over the weekend, the two teams agreed to move the game to the home of the Sooners, according to Carey Murdock.
Tulane had evacuated before the hurricane and had been setting up a temporary home in Birmingham, Alabama where UAB head coach Bill Clark gave them a second home.

Oklahoma and Tulane are in the middle of a three-game series. Tulane came to Oklahoma for the first game in the series in 2017 and was set to visit again in 2024.
With the 2021 game switched from New Orleans to Norman, the 2024 game will now be played in New Orleans.
The schools are expected to make that official in a formal statement later on Monday.
Oklahoma and Tulane kick off at 11 a.m. CT on ABC on Saturday, Sept. 4.
