The New York Mets have put general manager Zack Scott on administrative leave after DWI arrest.

In the aftermath of Zack Scott’s DWI arrest on Tuesday morning, the New York Mets have placed their general manager on administrative leave until further notice.

Team president Sandy Alderson will be handling Scott’s responsibilities for the team being. Scott’s arrest was the latest example of terrible publicity emanating from the Mets organization this week. They could not even go one day without completely embarrassing themselves to the national media. At least putting Scott on administrative leave is the right thing to do for now.

New York is five games back of the Atlanta Braves in the National League East standings.

The Mets have been in the news for all the wrong reasons. They have cratered in the last month or so. Not only has the Javy Baez trade not worked out, but he and Francisco Lindor were ringleaders of the Thumbs Down Movement in Queens. When that controversy seemed to be over, the news of Scott’s DWI arrest was yet another terrible look in Steve Cohen’s first year of team ownership.

New York just needs the year to end and re-evaluate everything heading into the 2022 season.
