Ohio State football fans were not pleased with the performance of C.J. Stroud during the first half of their season-opening game against Minnesota.

Every single season, the Ohio State Buckeyes are expected to qualify for the College Football Playoff at a minimum. Their first step to reaching the playoff begins on Thursday night, as they faced off against the Minnesota Golden Gophers. As for the quarterback who received the start, C.J. Stroud, he did not endear himself to the Buckeyes faithful in their first game of the 2021 campaign.

Ohio State trailed Minnesota by the score of 14-10 at halftime. Stroud threw an interception to Terrell Smith in the second quarter, and Minnesota capitalized eight plays later on a goal-line rushing touchdown by Mohamed Ibrahim.

Even though it was only one half, some Ohio State fans were already calling for freshman phenom Quinn Ewers to replace Stroud.

The main issue for those fans wanting Ewers to replace Stroud tonight is the fact that the five-star recruit did not make the trip to Minneapolis. Hence why he will not be entering in relief of Stroud on Thursday night. Furthermore, head coach Ryan Day said there is no chance he is even considering benching Stroud.

Day’s confidence in Stroud paid off following halftime, as the quarterback hit wide receiver Chris Olave for a 38-yard touchdown to give the Buckeyes the 17-14 lead.

So, be patient with Stroud, Ohio State fans.
