The United States visits El Salvador as they look to clinch a spot in the 2022 World Cup.

The United States failed to qualify for the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia. They look to clinch their spot as they begin their third round of the CONCACAF World Cup Qualifiers against El Salvador on Thursday night.

The U.S. men’s national team will be shorthanded for their match against El Salvador, as midfielder Christian Pulisic has been ruled out due to a positive COVID-19 test. Additionally, goalkeeper Zack Steffen missed out on the trip as he deals with back spasms and will be replaced by Matt Turner.

Following this first qualifying match, the United States will face off against Canada on Sunday, Sept. 5, before taking on Honduras on Sept. 8.
