Georgia head coach Kirby Smart spoke following his team’s stunning 10-3 win over Clemson on Saturday.

If we told you that the Clemson Tigers would be shut down in a football game, you would probably call us crazy. But that is exactly what happened on Saturday night, as they could not do anything against the defense of the Georgia Bulldogs. In the battle of the two top-five teams entering opening week, Georgia emerged with the 10-3 win.

Following the game, head coach Kirby Smart spoke to ESPN’s Holly Rowe, where he had quite the telling quote in what could be the biggest win of his career.

Kirby Smart speaks following huge Georgia win over Clemson

Simply said by Smart, and given what we saw on Saturday night, Georgia certainly looked like an elite team, especially on defense. As for Clemson, they looked like they certainly missed former quarterback and current Jacksonville Jaguar Trevor Lawrence.

Georgia’s defense took advantage of a porous Clemson offensive line. First off, they completely eliminated Clemson’s rushing attack, as evidenced by their two total yards on the ground on 23 carries. That, and the defense stepped up on third down, as the Tigers were 5-for-16 on third downs. Finally, and perhaps most importantly, Georgia was able to get to Clemson quarterback D.J. Uiagalelei, as they sacked him seven times for a loss of 46 yards.

As for Georgia’s offense, they did not do much through the air, but there were very efficient on the ground. Zamir White led things for the Bulldogs, as he rushed for 74 yards on 13 carries. Georgia’s rushing attack accumulated 121 yards on 31 carries on the night.

One game into the season, and the Bulldogs certainly look like a force to be reckoned with.
