The Tennessee Volunteers were forced into a quarterback change against Pitt with Hendon Hooker replacing the injured Joe Milton.

Tennessee thought they had their answer at quarterback when Joe Milton transferred in from Michigan. It’s never that simple when injuries are always a threat.

The starting quarterback had to come out of the game against Pitt with an injury, forcing the Vols to turn to backup Hendon Hooker.

Milton wasn’t having the greatest outing to begin with. He left the game with 50 yards on 7-of-12 passing. Several big plays were possible, but he badly overthrew receivers. In the end, he had more yards rushing (54) than he had through the air.

Hooker came in and hit just 2-of-4 of his attempts. However, he racked up 64 yards total thanks in part to a 44-yard touchdown by Jimmy Calloway.

The Volunteers went into halftime down 27-20 after allowing Pitt to score all their points in the second quarter. The Panthers found the endzone with just 19 seconds left before the break.
