The Eagles tried the Philly Special again and it was a nightmare (Video)

The Philadelphia Eagles tried to execute the Philly Special on 4th and Goal, but things could not have gone much worse this time around. 

For the Philadelphia Eagles faithful, they’ll never forget when the Philly Special was executed to perfection in the Super Bowl win over the New England Patriots. That’s probably why Sunday’s attempt at the trick play feels even worse.

On 4th and goal going up against the San Francisco 49ers, the Eagles tried getting sneaky by pulling off the Philly Special again. Instead, things really couldn’t have gone much worse for them.

That’s of course not what head coach Nick Sirianni was hoping to see. He decided to get aggressive here with that play call and it backfired on Sirianni. Wide receiver Greg Ward was hoping to make something happen, but he ended up throwing the ball out of bounds.

There was just no space for Jalen Hurts to try and record a touchdown. This edition of the Philly Special had no chance of turning into six points. Was this the best play call for the Eagles in this case?

While it worked once – in the biggest stage possible with Nick Foles – Sirianni should think twice before asking his offense to try and get this done. San Francisco is too well coached and their defense is way too strong for Philadelphia to pull this one off. This play was awful from start to finish.
