Minnesota Vikings head coach Mike Zimmer believed Greg Joseph’s missed field goal against the Arizona Cardinals was “an easy one.”

The Minnesota Vikings were oh so close to securing their first win of the 2021 season. In Week 1, the team lost in heartbreaking fashion in overtime to the Cincinnati Bengals, and were a 37-yard field goal away from getting the ‘W’ against the Arizona Cardinals. Kicker Greg Joseph then hooked the football wide right to give the NFC West team the victory.

After the game, head coach Mike Zimmer gave his assessment on the missed field goal, where he actually said he was thinking that Joseph’s attempt would be “an easy one.” You can see Zimmer’s quote in the tweet below from Chris Tomasson of the St. Paul Pioneer Press.

We are sure that Zimmer was just as shocked as all Vikings fans that Joseph missed that kick. Well, maybe not as stunned as the Vikings radio team, who rode a rollercoaster of emotions when calling the failed field goal attempt.

On paper, the Vikings were expected to have a miserable time against the Cardinals, led by dynamic quarterback Kyler Murray. Yet, the Vikings offense kept up with Arizona in stride on Sunday afternoon. It just so happens that they were unable to do so before the clock ticked zero.

Joseph was two-for-three on field goal attempts on Sunday, with his longest coming from 52-yards out. He was three-for-four on extra points.

Zimmer will look to get their first win of the season next week when they face a Seattle Seahawks team that blew a 24-9 halftime lead to the Tennessee Titans, ultimately losing 33-30 in overtime.
