Donald Trump wanted to go to the World Series, so he’s going. But Rob Manfred and MLB ensured the public they did not invite him.

So much for the former President being a popular party invite for Game 4 in Atlanta. Instead, the Braves and all of baseball would prefer not to be associated with Trump at this point in time.

Trump always wants to be the center of attention, and even though 45 is no longer President, he can’t make a public appearance quietly. Nope, everything needs a press release and a subsequent controversy attached.

“Looking forward to being at the World Series in Atlanta tonight. Thank you to the Commissioner of Baseball Rob Manfred, and Randy Levine of the great New York Yankees, for the invite. Melania and I are looking forward to a wonderful evening watching two great teams!”

Trump said in a statement

.

Earlier this week, Braves CEO Terry McGuirk claimed Trump reached out to the team about attending the game.

“He called MLB and wanted to come to the game. We were very surprised. Of course, we said yes,” McGuirk said.

Is Trump at World Series?

Does it matter?

Trump has ensured all of us that he was invited, because why would the man just show up, or invite himself? But in reality, every public appearance helps his PR and persona heading into an election cycle where he still remains an impactful figure in the Republican Party.

Regardless of how you feel about that, it remains true, especially in the deep south. While Georgia went blue to Joe Biden in 2020, it’s a battleground state every four years. Trump wants to be seen there, if nothing else but to make it seem like he’s trying.

Stick to sports? Tell them, not us.
