Jared Goff should not be the Detroit Lions’ starting quarterback in 2022

There are so many reasons the Detroit Lions are the unquestioned worst team in the NFL and remain winless through eight weeks. While head coach Dan Campbell is the NFL media’s darling, former No. 1 overall pick Jared Goff is playing he is still a member of the Jeff Fisher Los Angeles Rams. The Lions lost another horrendous one to a rebuilding Philadelphia Eagles team, 44-6.

Detroit may be devoid of talent, but the offense is completely rudderless with Goff at the helm. He completed 25-of-34 passes for 222 yards. That’s it. No touchdowns, no picks, nothing. He may have played a clean ball game, but his team got smoked in a contest Detroit had every reason to win. Goff needed to take over, but instead, Jalen Hurts and the Eagles’ ground game dominated.

Frankly, it is starting to get to the point where maybe David Blough should get some run leading this offense. Goff is really struggling in Anthony Lynn’s scheme and it is cratering any potential trade value he has left. Though the Lions are probably going to win a game at some point, Goff might be quarterbacking a winless team heading into the saddest Thanksgiving game of all time.

Detroit is likely to end up with the No. 1 overall pick, but the draft is not loaded with quarterbacks.
