The Purdue Boilermakers brought out all the stops in their quest to upset No. 3 Michigan State, including a gorgeous trick play.

There are few things better than watching a college football team pull off a reverse or a fleaflicker to perfection.

How about a reverse fleaflicker throwback screen? That’s something extra special.

Purdue unleashed that chimera of a play against Michigan State and it was beautiful.

Spartans fans may not want to admit it, but that might be one of the best trick plays of the year, if not the decade or the century.

There was a fake handoff, a reverse, a toss back to the QB and then throw back to the receiver who originally faked the handoff. All it was missing was a hook-and-ladder element.

Playing at home against a Top 5 opponent, the Boilermakers are playing with house money. It makes sense to try a trick play or two if it’s the right moment. And it was certainly the right time there.

Purdue went into the half leading 21-14, putting the Spartans on the ropes. It may take a few more well-designed tricks to keep the advantage in place.

The Boilermakers have already delivered an upset this season. They downed Iowa in October. They also gave Notre Dame a game earlier this season.
