Projecting the AP Top 25 college football rankings for Week 12 after Oklahoma fell to Baylor.

The college football season is heading toward the home stretch. Only a couple of weeks remain on the regular season before conference championship week rolls around. The college football rankings are changing with the leaves and the AP top 25 so far is singing a bit of a different tune than the College Football Playoff rankings.

The big loser in Week 11 was Oklahoma. The dreams of making the College Football Playoff are likely dead after the Sooners fell to Baylor. Likely being the operative word unless chaos unfolds and other teams slip badly.

It’s great news for the likes of Ohio State, Oregon, and Cincinnati. Don’t discount the Michigan programs either. Right now, it’s win the game in front of you and hope it does favors for you in the rankings. Here’s how the AP Top 25 college football rankings should project going into Week 12.

Projected AP Top 25 college football rankings after Week 11: No. 25-21

25. Mississippi State Bulldogs

After pulling off the biggest comeback of the day, Mississippi State should take the final spot in the top 25. They deserve this spot over Auburn by virtue of the win.  Mississippi State scored 40 unanswered points after trailing 28-3. Something about that score.

24. Utah Utes

It wasn’t pretty but Utah took a home a win on the road in Tucson over Arizona. The Utes are on their way to facing Oregon in Las Vegas for the Pac-12 Crown. Interestingly enough, the Utes host Oregon next, so they’ll get plenty of helping of duck this season.

23. Arkansas Razorbacks

The Razorbacks are back in after enough teams losing in the rankings. Arkansas picked up a road win at LSU. This could be a short stay for the Razorbacks, as they get ready to hit the road to take on Alabama.

22. San Diego State Aztecs

The Aztecs came away with a massive win over Nevada in Mountain West action. It was late, half the country was asleep but San Diego State is positioning itself to land in the top 25 with the big win.

21. Pitt Panthers

After nearly blowing a great start, Pitt came away with an overtime win over UNC this past Thursday. As such the Panthers are inching toward their goal of battling for the ACC Championship in Charlotte. A win at home over Virginia will put the Coastal in the bag.
