Jim Harbaugh spoke to the media after earning his first win over the Ohio State Buckeyes as head coach of the Michigan Wolverines.

Jim Harbaugh had been the brunt of jokes for his inability to earn a victory against the Ohio State Buckeyes since being hired as head coach of the Michigan Wolverines. He had gone 0-5 in his first five meetings as the sideline boss and the Wolverines had not won a head-to-head matchup against the Buckeyes since 2011.

But that all changed on Saturday, as Michigan defeated Ohio State, 42-27 to clinch the Big Ten East title.

Harbaugh spoke to the media following the huge victory, saying that this “feels like just the beginning.”

Jim Harbaugh speaks following Michigan’s huge win over Ohio State

This is certainly the beginning for Michigan. Next weekend, the Wolverines face off against either the Wisconsin Badgers or Iowa Hawkeyes in the Big Ten Championship Game. If they were to win, Michigan would clinch a spot in the College Football Playoff for the first time ever.

Harbaugh commented on the big performance for defensive lineman Aidan Hutchinson on Saturday, saying that he should be in consideration for the Heisman Trophy.

Hutchinson made life miserable for quarterback C.J. Stroud and Ohio State’s offensive line. On the day, the defensive lineman recorded seven total tackles, three tackles for loss and three sacks. With those three sacks, Hutchinson now has 13 on the year, which is the most ever recorded by a Michigan defender in a single season.

Harbaugh gave credit to the defense as a whole, led by coordinator Mike Macdonald, saying that they had Ohio State’s offense doubting themselves.

It certainly helped that the Wolverines defense eliminated the Buckeyes running game, as they accumulated just 64 yards on 30 carries on the day. Even though Stroud threw for 394 yards on the day (34-for-49 on his throws), it was not enough to keep up with Michigan. Specifically, running back Hassan Haskins, who ran for five touchdowns in the game.

This is a win that Harbaugh will never forget. Now, their focus is on the Big Ten Championship Game.
