Mike Gundy and the Oklahoma State Cowboys finally got the best of Oklahoma in Bedlam and college football media was hyped after a fantastic game.

After the first half of Bedlam, it appeared that an all too familiar song might start playing for Oklahoma State Cowboys fans. Their elite defense allowed 33 points and they were trailing against a team that they’d only won two of the last 18 meetings against in addition to losing the last six clashes.

But then the tides turned. The Pokes defense showed up in the second half and suffocated Caleb Williams and the Sooners offense. Moreover, Spencer Sanders and the Oklahoma State offense continued to move the ball well enough and capitalize on huge opportunities. Despite miscues from both sides, it came down to one final possession on which the Cowboys needed a stop.

In true bend-don’t-break fashion, they allowed OU to get into opposing territory but forced a fourth down and then came up with a monumental sack to seal the massive 37-33 win.

Oklahoma State football wins Bedlam over Oklahoma: College football media reacts

After such a great rivalry game to cap off a wild Saturday, college football media was loving every second.

This is obviously a huge win for Mike Gundy and the Cowboys — but it could loom even larger in the next week.

Now, Oklahoma State will face Baylor in the Big 12 Championship Game next weekend. If they get that win, they have a strong case to make the College Football Playoff, a spot they’ve long tried to pry from the Sooners’ clutches. They’ve done the part of dispatching OU with a monstrously important Bedlam win. The job is now to win one more game and really punctuate a dream season.
