Championship Week was oddly comforting, and as a result, we don’t see too many controversy-worthy rankings in the final AP Poll of the regular season.

Nick Saban told you this would happen. It’s a point that Kirby Smart seems absolutely dead set on ignoring. You cannot win without an offense. You have to have a good quarterback, and if you have an elite one, you’ve got it made. Defense does not win SEC Championships.

It doesn’t win Big Ten Championships.

It doesn’t win Pac 12 Championships.

It doesn’t win ACC Championships.

It can win you a Big 12 Championship if Oklahoma has an off-year, but that’s about it.

In the wake of Championship Week proving Nick Saban right, again, we have a new pecking order in the AP Poll.

College Football Rankings: AP Top 25 poll, Week 14

  1. Alabama
  2. Michigan
  3. Georgia
  4. Cincinnati
  5. Notre Dame
  6. Baylor
  7. Ohio State
  8. Ole Miss
  9. Oklahoma State
  10. Utah
  11. Michigan State
  12. BYU
  13. Pittsburgh
  14. Oklahoma
  15. Oregon
  16. Louisiana-Lafayette
  17. Iowa
  18. NC State
  19. Clemson
  20. Wake Forest
  21. Houston
  22. Arkansas
  23. Texas A&M
  24. UTSA
  25. Kentucky

Uncomfortable talk time Dawgs fans. Kirby Smart is overrated as a head coach. That doesn’t mean you should fire him. Not many people can beat Saban. How many times has he shown you that he can’t get the offense right? The man let Justin Fields walk! And at this point, is there any reason to believe that Georgia would do better with another shot at the Tide? Not with their current quarterback situation. No, it’s better to let the Irish take a shot in the Playoff than this Georgia team. Defense can only take you so far. And we just saw how far that is.
