4. Dak Prescott will throw fewer than 30 passes

Prescott didn’t shoulder a massive load in last Thursday’s win over New Orleans, but he still threw 40 passes again Sean Payton’s defense. In a perfect world, Dallas can start to lower Prescott’s pitch count as the stretch run rolls around.

This week gives Mike McCarthy and his offensive staff an excellent chance to do just that. They understand that Washington’s pass rush is their biggest defensive strength. Not exposing Prescott to a ton of hits should be a priority for Dallas.

The key for the Cowboys will be to get their run game going early. That isn’t a simple task against Washington’s talented front seven, but Dallas has the offensive line talent required to turn the ride in their team’s favor at the line of scrimmage.

Prescott will need to make a handful of big throws to loosen things up for his running backs, but this game isn’t going to evolve into a shootout. As such, look for Prescott’s passing attempt total to remain in the high-20s as opposed to hitting 40 as it did in Week 13.
