Is John Harbaugh related to Michigan football coach Jim Harbaugh?

Michigan football coach Jim Harbaugh has guided the Wolverines into the College Football Playoff. Some might wonder if he has a famous brother.

The Michigan Wolverines have been in the midst of a wonderful season. While they might be struggling with the Georgia Bulldogs, Jim Harbaugh has accomplished a lot in putting this team in position to contend for a national championship.

With the success that Harbaugh is having, some have started asking around if he is related to another prominent coach with that same last name. John Harbaugh has been a longtime coach of the Baltimore Ravens and has seen plenty of success coaching there.

Are the two related in some way?

Are Jim Harbaugh and John Harbaugh related?

Yep. They’re brothers and have been for 58 years. Both were born in Toledo. Both have the same parents.

They are indeed brothers.

John, the older of the two, has been a coach for the Ravens since 2008. He got the opportunity to coach against his brother Jim on a couple different occasions when Jim coached the San Francisco 49ers.

Most notably, the two coached against each other in Super Bowl XLVII, when John and his Ravens beat Jim and the 49ers.
