Michigan State fans will be pumped to hear what head coach Mel Tucker said following the Spartans’ Peach Bowl win.

The Michigan State football team added one more memorable moment to their 2021 season. The Spartans looked doomed after halftime in the Peach Bowl, as the Pitt Panthers took a 21-10 lead after a fumble recovery touchdown. But, head coach Mel Tucker’s team bounced back and ended up winning 31-21.

As if Michigan State fans could not be more pumped, they should read what Tucker had to say after the team hoisted the Peach Bowl trophy.

“Our fans deserve a winning football team,” Tucker said, via ESPN’s Harry Lyles Jr. “Our fans deserve a championship football team. Our fans deserve to see a brand of football that they can be proud of. And that’s what we’re here to do. It means something to us to make our fans proud. And that’s something that we talk about all the time and we’re going to continue to do that. We’re going to do it as a team, our team on the field and our fans together, and we’re going to accomplish some great things here.”

Entering his third season as head coach, Tucker had held a 7-12 overall record. But this year, Tucker solidified his status as the Spartan’s sideline boss for the foreseeable future. That all started with the team’s trademark 37-33 win over the rival Michigan Wolverines, who were ranked No. 6 in the country at the time. Shortly afterwards, Tucker was rewarded with a 10-year, $95 million contract extension.

Now, Tucker ends his 2021 season on a high note. The Spartans took a 24-21 lead in the fourth quarter after two touchdown passes by Payton Thorne. But with the Panthers looking to either tie the game to send it to overtime or going for the win, Cal Haladay picked off Davis Beville and returned it 78-yards to officially clinch the Peach Bowl victory.

This is just the start for Tucker, as he has championship aspirations on his mind, which should pump up Michigan State fans.
