Things appear to be trending in the right direction for both Jaire Alexander and Za’Darius Smith to be able to suit up this weekend.

With the Green Bay Packers getting ready to host the San Francisco 49ers this weekend, the team really is getting healthy at the right time. The big question folks have on their minds is the statuses of both Zaire Alexander and Za’Darius Smith.

Both would be major additions for the defense going up against San Francisco. On Tuesday afternoon, head coach Matt LaFleur addressed the two standouts and he sure made it sound like they’ve got a great chance of suiting up.

The Packers could welcome back Jaire Alexander and Za’Darius Smith vs. the 49ers

Getting Smith and Alexander back on the practice field for Tuesday’s session sure is a great step in the right direction. For Alexander, he suffered a serious injury in Week 4 against the Pittsburgh Steelers and he was placed on Injured Reserve. The team just activated him off IR and he’s ready to make plenty of noise in the playoffs.

As for Smith, the stud pass-rusher has been dealing with a back issue this year which required surgery. There was concern that he’d be lost for the season, but he’s been working around the clock to get himself back to this point. Now, he very well could record a sack or two on Jimmy Garoppolo.

The showdown with the 49ers should be a great one and Green Bay will enter things with loads of confidence. The team went 13-4 during the regular season and was able to rest this past weekend after locking in the No. 1 seed in the NFC.

Now, things could be made even better for LaFleur and Co. if Alexander and Smith can rock against San Francisco. Fans will surely monitor their situations over the next few days.
