Freddie Freeman and Carlos Correa have been the free agents getting most of the attention this offseason. But there are other names teams should covet.

With a winning history on offense and defense, Freddie Freeman and Carlos Correa have been the top names on the free-agent market. But those names aren’t it.

Freeman is getting attention as a top-tier first baseman as well as for his bat. In his 11 season career, the lefty bat has hit .295/.384/.509 with a +138 wRC. He’s hit a total of 271 home runs, including 31 in his 2021 season in which he lead the Atlanta Braves to a World Series Championship.

Freeman rejected an $18.4 million qualifying offer from the Braves to become a free agent. He is a five-time All-Star for the National League and won the Gold Glove for his defensive prowess at first base in 2018.

Best free agents not names Carlos Correa or Freddie Freeman?

For seven seasons, Correa has hit .277/.356/.496 with a +128 wRC. He’s hit a career total of 133 home runs, 489 RBI, 162 doubles, 347 walks, and 33 stolen bases. In 2021, Correa had a total of 20 defensive runs saved. He has a .981 fielding percentage for his career.

The righty won a Gold Glove for American League Shortstop in 2021, also taking home the Platinum Glove. He is a two-time All-Star.

Freeman and Correa are both excellent options. But they do not meet all needs for all teams. These two promise to garner large and potentially long-term contracts. Some teams are needing pitching. Some need bench options or a designated hitter. Some teams have smaller budgets for free agency.

There are some excellent candidates besides these two options. Let’s discuss.
