The pyro that went off after Ronda Rousey won the Royal Rumble match caused the WrestleMania sign hanging at The Dome at America’s Center to melt.

The 2022 Royal Rumble was set to be a huge event with a variety of returns expected to take place. Perhaps the biggest return was former RAW Women’s Champion and UFC fighter Ronda Rousey, entering as the 28th competitor and winning the 30-woman Royal Rumble match to earn a main event championship match at WrestleMania 38.

But as the pyro went off when Rousey pointed to the WrestleMania sign, fans sitting below it had to evacuate afterwards because it caught on fire and began to melt. The sign was lowered and crew members put out the fire with extinguishers.

Here’s hoping no one was hurt as a result of this incident.

For those watching the Royal Rumble event from home, that is why the crowd was looking off screen during the RAW Women’s Championship match between Becky Lynch and Doudrop. The sign was lowered

Rousey last stepped inside a WWE ring back in 2019, when she participated in the main event of WrestleMania 35 in a winner-take-all championship match against Charlotte Flair and Lynch. In the Royal Rumble match, Rousey eliminated multiple competitors. She last eliminated Flair to win and earn a main event championship match at the two-night WrestleMania 38 event at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.
