With MLB stuck in a lockout for now, college baseball is every fan’s main source for the National Pastime. So, who is this Tommy Tanks fellow?

Tommy White, better known as Tommy Tanks, is a true freshman for NC State. As of Sunday, Feb. 27, White has nine home runs in his first eight games, which is unprecedented for any college baseball player, let alone one getting his first introduction to the collegiate game.

Rather than take you through all of White’s home runs one by one, here they are all in a single video:

White doesn’t really consider himself a power hitter, which makes his recent streak all the more unique.

“I’ve never experienced a hot streak like this. I think I had maybe five home runs in high school my senior year, so it’s pretty cool to go on this streak,” White said, per 247sports. “I’m not really focused on how many I hit, just focused on hard contact, focusing on the game and the wins.”

At this point, he’s only increasing his draft stock.

Tommy White perfect game

No, White didn’t throw a perfect game, as he’s not a pitcher. But the National Rankings website Perfect Game ranked White as the top-ranked prep third base prospect before the season.
