Police would like to interview Dallas Cowboys player Kelvin Joseph in relation to a murder that occurred in mid-March.

Joseph is not a suspect or person of interest at this time.

However, police would like to speak with Joseph regarding the murder of 20-year-old Cameron Ray, which occurred on March 18. Joseph was a second-round pick of the Cowboys just last season.

Ray was fatally shot in a confrontation with a group of people, which was caught on camera. One of those in the confrontation is thought to be Joseph, based on his YKDV necklace. Per ESPN, Joseph’s rap nickname is “YKDV Bossman Fat.”

Cowboys: Police want to speak with Kelvin Joseph

Thus far, the Cowboys and Joseph have yet to put out a statement, though they have reportedly privately encouraged him to speak to police, especially since he isn’t a prime suspect, but merely a person at the scene of the crime.

The following, per ESPN, sheds a little more light on the case at hand:

"“Detective Tonya McDaniel told KDFW that Ray and three friends were in Dallas for a weekend and that they were not responsible for the incident that preceded the shooting. Police have been working to identify the group seen in the surveillance video, including the man wearing the YKDV necklace.”"

While the Cowboys would surely prefer this distraction not take place for a player they’ve invested in per the NFL Draft like Joseph, as long as he complies the organization will remain patient through the legal process.

We’ll have more details when they’re made available.
