After his failed tenure as head coach of the Jacksonville Jaguars, Urban Meyer is reportedly returning to one of his former jobs.

Urban Meyer’s stint in the NFL did not go off well. After just 13 games as head coach of the Jacksonville Jaguars, the team fired him due to multiple controversies. Even with the nature of his firing, Meyer is reportedly being welcomed back to one of his former jobs.

According to Richard Deitsch of The Athletic, Meyer is in “deep negotiations” to return to Fox Sports.

Meyer joined Fox Sports after stepping down as the Ohio State Buckeyes head coach at the end of the 2018 season. He was part of the network’s Big Noon Kickoff show.

Despite his controversial tenure as head coach of the Jaguars, Fox sources told Deitsch that the network doesn’t “view Meyer’s failure at the NFL level is an impediment to his returning to Fox.” That, and they know they will be “pilloried on social media” as a result of bringing Meyer back.

Meyer actually hinted during an appearance on the “Tim May Podcast” this April that he wanted to make a return to Fox.

The Jaguars had hoped Meyer would be able to turn the franchise around, especially with a quarterback for the foreseeable future in Trevor Lawrence. Instead, it was controversy after controversy with Meyer, such as not going on the team’s flight back to Jacksonville after a Thursday Night Football game to being accused of kicking kicker Josh Lambo. After a 2-11 record, the Jaguars organization pulled the plug on the Meyer experience.

It is not official yet, but all signs are pointing to Meyer returning to Fox Sports to work on its college football studio shows .
