A promo cut by Roman Reigns during a house show in Trenton, NJ on Saturday, May 7 had fans wondering if he was teasing his eventual exit from WWE.

When attending a WWE event, whether televised, a premium live event or a house show, you never know what you might see or hear. For those who attended the May 7 WWE house show in Trenton, NJ, they heard quite the promo from Roman Reigns.

At the end of the show, Reigns grabbed a microphone and began to talk to those in attendance. That’s where he said something that many assumed was the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion teasing his exit from the company.

“I’ve been here a couple of times in the past 10 years,” said Reigns, h/t WrestlingJunkie. “I’m starting to work into a new phase in my career, and I honestly don’t know if I’ll be back here again. If that’s the case, I just wanna say thank you for all these years of support.”

Did Roman Reigns tease his eventual WWE exit?

Of course, these comments had fans wondering if Reigns was teasing that he would be stepping away from the company.

According to Fightful Select (subscription required), numerous people that they spoke to who were backstage at the show said that Reigns is heavily in the company’s creative plans for the foreseeable future and that he’s not leaving “any time soon.” Additionally, producers, higher ups and staff told Fightful that they were not told about any scheduled time off for Reigns.

Additionally, a source told Fightful that Reigns is “likely to be accommodated and incentivized to keep WWE his priority.”

Another source told Fightful that they believe Reigns was talking about his schedule featuring less house show appearances.

Reigns has held the Universal Championship since late August 2020 and recently defeated Brock Lesnar in the main event of Night 2 of WrestleMania 38 to win the WWE Championship. On Sunday, May 8, Reigns is competing at WrestleMania Backlash, where he is teaming up with SmackDown Tag Team Champions The Uso’s to take on Drew McIntyre and Raw Tag Team Champions RK-Bro.

When Reigns actually leaves WWE remains to be seen, but he certainly had the attention of fans based on his comments at the Trenton, NJ house show.
