San Diego Padres outfielder Jurickson Profar called San Francisco Giants fans “the worst in the league” after they threw trash at him during the May 20 game.

Early on in the 2022 season, we saw fans throw debris onto the field during a New York Yankees-Cleveland Guardians. game, creating a tense postgame situation. Sadly, there is yet another incident in which fans don’t know how to behave at a professional sports game.

Fans at Oracle Park threw baseballs and beer in the direction of San Diego Padres outfielder Jurickson Profar.

After the game, Profar spoke with the media about how frustrated he was, and called San Francisco Giants fans “the worst in the league.”

“These guys are the worst in the league,” Profar told reporters, h/t the San Francisco Chronicle. “They can talk, but as soon as you try to throw stuff, that’s different. I was really mad. I’m a happy guy, but when I get mad, it’s different. That thing got me really mad.”

The incident began in the bottom of the third inning, where the crew chief met with Profar, who pointed out the baseballs and beer bottle on the field, noting the direction from where the debris came from in the outfield bleacher section. After the game, Profar said that it happened after he tried throwing a baseball to a Padres fan in between innings.

Unfortunately, that was not the end of it. In the seventh inning, Profar chased down a double hit by Luis Gonzalez and a beer bottle was thrown onto the field, but it didn’t land near the Padres outfielder.

Sadly, this has become a more frequent occurrence at professional sporting events, as there are fans who just don’t know how to behave in public. Luckily, Profar was not injured as a result of the recklessness of the individuals who decided to throw debris onto the field.
