St. Andrews and its most famous track, Old Course, reside in the place where golf began hundreds of years ago, and it’s full of history.

The Open Championship is at St. Andrews this year and will play on the Old Course for the 29th time in the 150th event.

St. Andrews is one of nine courses on rotation for Open Championship locations.

The other eight courses are located across England, Northern Ireland, and Wales. St. Andrews is the only course located in the country that invented golf.

Old Course has hosted the most times since the beginning of this major championship, so it’s incredibly important when the event heads here.

It is the oldest golf course in the world, and the best part about it is that St. Andrews is a public establishment, so everyone can play there.

What country is St. Andrews Links in?

Old Course and the other six courses on the property are located in St. Andrews, Fife, Scotland, and are held in trust by the St. Andrews Links Trust under Parliament.

Most people call this place the Home of Golf, and while it has been seven years since the last time the R&A held an event at St. Andrews, it was only suitable to hold the 150th edition at this historic location.

This course has some of the most challenging holes in Open Championship history, so it’s one of the hardest tests on this rotation of United Kingdom courses.

St. Andrews is the pinnacle of links golf, which will give the field a great test of fortitude this week and hopefully provide carnage for golf fans worldwide to enjoy.
