Twitter reacted to Oleksandr Usyk beating Anthony Joshua for the second time in a row to retain his heavyweight titles. Here’s what they had to say.

Oleksandr Usyk bested Anthony Joshua for the second time in a row on Saturday, Aug. 20, at Jeddah Superdome in Saudi Arabia.

Usyk won the majority share of the heavyweight titles from Joshua in 2021 by unanimous decision. Joshua gave a better performance against Usyk the second time, but it wasn’t good enough to win back his titles.

Usyk controlled the action and outworked the larger Joshua for 12 rounds. The judges scored it a split decision, but two judges had it 116-112, 115-113 for Usyk.

Usyk delivered another high endurance boxing performance, and Joshua was accepting of the loss in a weird way.

After the fight, Joshua hijacked the microphone and went on a rant for several minutes. He praised Usyk and his home country of Ukraine while also praising himself.

No one knew what to make of Joshua’s post-fight speech. It caught the DAZN announcers off guard.

Twitter had a fun time with Joshua’s rant as well. Several memes popped up with a mix of recognition of Usyk’s victory. Joshua’s heart seemed to be in the right place, but his oratory skills could use some work.

Here’s a mix of what Twitter had to say about Usyk vs. Joshua 2.
