Bruce Irvin is back, and Seahawks fans have to love his first message to the city and fans

The Seattle Seahawks brought back fan-favorite Bruce Irvin this week, signing him to the team’s practice squad. There was an understandable amount of excitement in Seattle both with team officials and within the fanbase to have Irvin back.

Here’s what head coach Pete Carroll had to say, courtesy of SI:

"“He’s been around enough, he cares a tremendous amount about excellence and the style of play and playing tough.”"

Perhaps no one’s reaction was more exciting than Irvin’s himself, though. Here’s what he Tweeted after the news:

Seahawks fans have to love him saying this, considering that’s how they feel regarding Irvin as well. He was drafted by the team 15th overall in 2012 and won a Super Bowl with the team before going on to play for the then-Oakland Raiders, Atlanta Falcons, and Carolina Panthers. Irvin returned to Seattle in 2020 for a brief stop and spent 2021 with the Chicago Bears.

Bruce Irvin could play for the Seahawks soon

Irvin hasn’t been on an active squad at all this year, but all signs suggest he’s stayed in shape and is close to being ready to see the field. Being signed to the practice squad gives the Seahawks, and Irvin, some flexibility as far as how quickly he’ll progress through the steps.

Last year in six games (173 snaps), Irvin registered seven total tackles, two solo, and two QB hits.

As far as when he’ll elevate from the practice squad and see the playing field, the SI article above suggests Carroll didn’t rule out Irvin playing as soon as this week.

Next. Sure looks like Broncos traded for the wrong Seahawks quarterback. dark
