A Reddit user recently pointed out that every single team (except the Rockies) has a former player of theirs in this year’s World Series.

Reddit user Constant_Gardner11 recently posted an interesting stat about this year’s Fall Classic matchup: Every MLB team (except the Rockies) has at least one former player of theirs that made an appearance for the 2022 Houston Astros or 2022 Philadelphia Phillies.

It is worth pointing out that this list includes players who only appeared in the minor leagues for certain organizations, it is not strictly going off of major league service time.

While all teams have a player eligible for a ring, let’s break down the ones that are going to be participating in the series.

Former Angels players in 2022 World Series

  • Martín Maldonado (Astros)
  • Jean Segura (Phillies)
  • Brandon Marsh (Phillies)
  • Noah Syndergaard (Phillies)
  • Will Smith (Astros)

Maldonado won his only career Gold Glove Award as a member of the 2017 Angels club. Jason Castro is inactive for the World Series.

Former Athletics players in 2022 World Series

  • Seth Martinez (Astros)

Utilityman Yairo Muñoz and pitchers Jeurys Familia and Tyler Cyr made regular season appearances for the Phillies but none of the trio are on the postseason roster.

Former Blue Jays players in 2022 World Series

  • Aledmys Díaz (Astros)
  • Brad Hand (Phillies)
  • Noah Syndergaard (Phillies)

Bradley Zimmer and Vinny Nittoli of the Phillies will receive a ring if the Phils manage to win the series, but Zimmer is in the Blue Jays organization and Nittoli is in the minors in Philadelphia.

Former Brewers players in 2022 World Series

  • Martín Maldonado (Astros)
  • Mauricio Dubon (Astros)
  • Will Smith (Astros)
  • Jean Segura (Phillies)

There are a whole slew of players that are on each club’s roster but they are either injured or listed as inactive including Astros players Michael Brantley as well as Phillies reliever Corey Knebel.

Former Cardinals players in 2022 World Series

  • Aledmys Díaz (Astros)
  • Edmundo Sosa (Phillies)

Yairo Muñoz, Óscar Mercado and JoJo Romero would all secure rings if the Phillies top the Astros.

Former Cubs players in 2022 World Series

  • Martín Maldonado (Astros)
  • Kyle Schwarber (Phillies)
  • David Robertson (Phillies)
  • Nick Castellanos (Phillies)

Relief pitcher James Norwood made 20 appearances out of the Phillies bullpen this year before being traded to the Red Sox. He would get a ring if the Phillies win it all.

Former Diamondbacks players in 2022 World Series

  • Jean Segura (Phillies)

Shortstop Didi Gregorius (free agent) and pitchers Chris Devenski and Vinny Nittoli also qualify.

Former Dodgers players in 2022 World Series

  • Yordan Alvarez (Astros)

Pedro Baez (Astros) and Bubby Rossman (Phillies) would also qualify for a ring, as well as Corey Knebel (Phillies) who is injured.

Former Giants players in 2022 World Series

  • Mauricio Dubón (Astros)
  • Will Smith (Astros)
  • Zack Wheeler (Phillies)

Each of Taylor Jones (Astros), Sam Coonrod (Phillies), Michael Plassmeyer (Phillies) and Tyler Cyr (Phillies) would earn a ring as well.

Former Guardians players in 2022 World Series

  • Brad Hand (Phillies)

Phil Maton and Michael Brantley (Astros) are both injured but would earn rings, as would Yainer Diaz (Astros), Bradley Zimmer (Phillies) and Óscar Mercado (Phillies).

Former Mariners players in 2022 World Series

  • Rafael Montero (Astros)
  • Jean Segura (Phillies)

Each of the trio of Michael Plassmeyer, Vinny Nittoli and Nick Duron of the Phillies would receive a ring as well.

Former Marlins players in 2022 World Series

  • Ryne Stanek (Astros)
  • J.T. Realmuto (Phillies)
  • Andrew Bellatti (Phillies)

It’s nice to see Realmuto getting his shot at a ring after missing out annually with the Marlins.

Former Mets players in 2022 World Series

  • Rafael Montero (Astros)
  • Zack Wheeler (Phillies)
  • Brad Hand (Phillies)
  • Noah Syndergaard (Phillies)

See the statement on J.T. Realmuto above, same goes for Harper.

Former Padres players in 2022 World Series

  • Zach Eflin (Phillies)
  • Brad Hand (Phillies)

If there is a lesson to be learned here, it’s that Brad Hand has played for everybody at some point. Phil Maton and Jason Castro (Astros, injured) as well as James Norwood and Michael Kelly (Phillies) are eligible for rings as well.

Former Rangers players in 2022 World Series

Former Red Sox players in 2022 World Series

Former Tigers players in 2022 World Series

  • Justin Verlander (Astros)
  • Nick Castellanos (Phillies)

Former Twins players in 2022 World Series
