Lamar Jackson is currently in a contract standoff with the Baltimore Ravens, and several teams can pursue his services, including a few dark horses.

By now, the Baltimore Ravens should have had star quarterback Lamar Jackson locked under contract for the foreseeable future.

They have not, and instead, Jackson is on the bench dealing with an injury while Tyler Huntley has taken over, and Baltimore has clinched a playoff berth. That begs the question. What happens now? Does Baltimore still want Jackson as their franchise quarterback?

The most logical answer is yes, but recent interactions have been sour. So they may choose to move on. But where do both sides go from there? In this case, we wonder specifically about Jackson, what he will do, and where he goes.

There are a few obvious choices, but if he becomes a free agent or is traded, there are a few spots where he could potentially find himself, and the narrative could change significantly.

Lamar Jackson Dark Horse Team No. 4: Miami Dolphins

Ok, they may not exactly be the dark horse type team, but Miami needs to be on this list because it’s still unclear what’s going to happen, especially with what’s going on in South Beach. Right now, Miami doesn’t have a first-round pick because of the tampering scandal. On the flip side, they do have a pressing need at quarterback, given the situation with Tua Tagovailoa.

By adding Jackson, a hometown kid, the Dolphins have a legitimate case to challenge Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills in the AFC and not merely depend on their home game against Buffalo being the “trap” game that it often is for teams. Moreover, the AFC is loaded with top-notch quarterbacks. If Miami wants to really make a statement and not have to rely on others’ misfortune, getting Jackson would be the right thing to do.
