The 2022 NFL season is over and the 2023 NFL draft season is underway. Kick off your prospect research with a dive into the top quarterbacks in the class.

The NFL is a quarterback-driven league. When all-time clashes like Super Bowl 57 unfold between electrifying young quarterbacks, the sense of urgency to find the guy is reignited among teams who haven’t found him just yet.

The 2023 NFL Draft class promises to be an exciting one for football fans, particularly those of teams near the top who are in need of a franchise quarterback. With the abundance of top-tier talent coming out of the collegiate ranks, it’s only natural that the discussion of which quarterbacks will make the cut has already begun.

Here is a look at the top-five quarterbacks in the 2023 NFL Draft class:

5. Hendon Hooker, Tennessee

The top-four QBs in the 2023 draft class are split into two tiers, and the distance between the second and third tier is massive. It could very well turn out that we see four quarterbacks off the board in round one and not another until day three. The guy who stands the best chance at a day two payday is Hendon Hooker from Tennessee.

Early on in the college football season, Hooker was setting the SEC on fire, knocking off LSU and Alabama in back-to-back weeks. The Volunteers climbed to the top of the FBS rankings, and it seemed as if it may be the year for Tennessee.

Hooker is an older prospect with a five-year collegiate career under his belt. He’s got some wear on his tires to show for it. In a season cut short due to an ACL tear in late November, he threw for 3,135 yards, rushed for 430, and tallied a total of 32 touchdowns with just 2 interceptions — spectacular numbers that nearly propelled the Vols to a CFP birth. With his age and now some reconstruction done on his knee, Hooker’s draft stock has deflated a bit, but he still rounds out the top-five quarterbacks in the 2023 NFL Draft class.
