The latest NFL rumors suggest Aaron Rodgers has reached out to at least one potential trade destination. Does that spoil his news?

For now, we have no official word on what Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers is planning in regards to his decision to retire or continue his NFL career in 2023. He’s been done with his darkness retreat for over a week, initially saying his decision would come, “soon enough.”

While there’s a possibility Rodgers could appear on the Pat McAfee show in his regular Tuesday spot today, McAfee said the appearance is only a recurring weekly during the season.

So, the timeline is uncertain, but the latest NFL rumors give us a massive hint.

Aaron Rodgers has spoken to the Jets, which is a huge hint he’s returning

On Monday night, Trey Wingo reported that Rodgers reached out to the New York Jets. He also said Rodgers is, “open to the idea of going to,” New York.

That’s massive news, for several reasons.

Firstly, it seems to hint pretty heavily that Rodgers is going to make a return in 2023. If he was set on retiring, there would be no reason for him to talk to any team other than the Packers.

Secondly, it hints that he’s requesting a trade. Again, if he were returning to Green Bay, he would not need to talk to Green Bay.

The Packers, as an organization, seem more than ready to move on to Jordan Love, and Rodgers, well, who knows where he stands right now. Teammates have expressed public confidence in Love, too.

All has been quiet on the Rodgers cycle for a while now. Tuesday will bring a lot of franchise tag news, and perhaps some intel on Rodgers, too. With Derek Carr off the market, the Packers can officially command a hefty penny. A trade with the Jets won’t be easy, but if both sides are motivated, it can happen.
