So, what is Jordan Love doing during the Aaron Rodgers trade chatter? The Packers quarterback is preparing for next season, as he should be.

Jordan Love knows it’s his time to shine. Green Bay’s brass has put their faith in him, suggesting that he’ll be ready to go by the time next season starts.

Love was selected in the first round three years ago. It’s been a long time coming, and he’s earned his chance on the gridiron. While it was a slow climb — and rightly so, Love hasn’t always looked capable in regular-season games — the Packers believe he’s shown enough in practice to get his chance.

In the middle of all this Aaron Rodgers noise, Love is exactly where he should be — preparing for next season with his QB coach.

Packers have their future in Jordan Love

Jordan Love would have received more playing time by now had it not been for the quarterback in front of him. That’s a credit to Rodgers, who won two NFL MVPs in the last three seasons. Most quarterbacks don’t do that in their late-30’s, but Rodgers isn’t most quarterbacks.

Even with a down year in the rear-view, Rodgers is highly coveted by the New York Jets. Should he want to come back, he’ll be a Jet. There’s aren’t many scenarios in which he’s starting for the Packers next season. Mark Murphy said as much on Friday night.

“Yeah, we have a lot of confidence in him,” Murphy told Adriana Torres of WBAY in Green Bay. “We drafted him and developed him. A lot of credit goes to our coaches, and to Jordan. But we do think he’s ready.”

Murphy also described Rodgers’ Green Bay career in the past tense, signaling that the time is now to move on to Love.

The Packers have been lucky with quarterbacks for the past few decades. Ideally for Matt LaFleur and Co., that continue on to the next generation.

Next. Packers just made it easier to trade Aaron Rodgers teammate to the Jets. dark
