The Yankees are off to a strong start, and their early season may continue without these currently rostered players.

3-1, that’s where the New York Yankees stand a game into their second series of the season. They’ve had some early advantages go their way, like two straight home series to kick off the year.

Life just feels easier when you can put the pinstripes on.

But that’s not to say the early success for New York shouldn’t be celebrated. The San Francisco Giants and Philadelphia Phillies are two National League teams expected to be competitive and New York has appeared in control from start to finish for all but one game. Clearly, Philly has some issues it needs to find solutions for, but New York is looking dominant. It’s early, but that’s a great sign.

Things clicking early does not mean roster moves don’t need to be made. The sport eats complacency for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and the Yankees need to look for every opportunity imaginable to improve its roster or increase talent density. They went with a philosophy of “best player gets the roster spot” this spring when they brought up the young Anthony Volpe to start at shortstop, and that philosophy should continue.

A few weeks ago, fans might have expected to see Gleyber Torres on this list considering his name popped up in offseason trade rumors. I would have been tempted to place him here had it not been for his extremely hot start.

Torres was arguably the best trade bait the team had, but he’s started off 4-for-12 with two home runs and a few stolen bases. He has an OPS of 1.363. Gleyber is back, and the Yankees should hold… For now, anyway.

For the following players, don’t expect them to be on the roster come the next turn of the monthly calendar.
