The Raiders may not be sold on their future at quarterback and could make an offer for the 49ers’ Trey Lance

Each day leading up to the 2023 NFL Draft, it seems we’re going to have one big report after another. Wednesday, it was the San Francisco 49ers taking center stage. How could that affect the Las Vegas Raiders, you ask? Oh, it’s about to get spicy.

According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, the 49ers are taking calls on former no. 3 overall pick, quarterback Trey Lance, as it appears Brock Purdy has the inside track for the long-term starting gig under Kyle Shanahan.

What exactly could the 49ers be looking for in a trade for Lance? Well, before this report officially leaked, one NFL reporter revealed that San Francisco could be asking for far less than you might expect.

The Raiders have what it takes to acquire Trey Lance and should entertain the idea of making a trade

Apparently, all it would take to get Lance is a mere two second-round picks. Now, that seems low, especially considering what the 49ers originally traded to move up to that third overall pick in order to bring Lance to San Francisco.

But, hindsight is 20/20 and Shanahan led his 49ers to a Super Bowl behind “Mr. Irrelevant,” Brock Purdy, after not only one, but two quarterback injuries hit the roster last year.

The Raiders, meanwhile, brought in 31-year-old veteran Jimmy Garoppolo to be their starting quarterback for, well, at least this season. Beyond 2023, though, there’s no telling what the Raiders’ plans are at the quarterback position. So, with Lance now available, would Vegas take the shot on a dual-threat quarterback, on a rookie deal, with a lot of untapped potential?

Let’s take a look at three particular packages the Raiders could offer, revolving around that rumored compensation from Charles Robinson of Yahoo Sports.
