Bills: 3 2023 roster holes that could cost Josh Allen a Super Bowl and why

Bills roster hole No. 1: Slot Wide Receiver
Stefon Diggs has finished in the top five in the NFL in targets each of the last three years. As a result, the Buffalo Bills have made an effort to diversify their pass-catching core outside of Stefon Diggs. It has not gone well.
Diggs still stands alone atop the Bills depth chart with lingering questions about the talent behind him. Gabriel Davis showed signs of promise in his third season last year, but his play was inconsistent and he didn’t cement himself as bone fide, reliable number two option.
Behind Davis, the situation is even murkier. It got worse this offseason when Isaiah McKenzie and Jamison Crowder departed in free agency.
The likeliest options for the Bills to fill the slot receiver role are Deonte Harty, Trent Sherfield, and Khalil Shakir. This group has one 500+ yard receiving yard season combined. The Bills offense is one of the most formidable in the league, but this is certainly a weakness that could preclude them from reaching their full potential.
