College football bowl projections 2014: Sporting News releases latest update

The college football regular season is still just about two months away, but that never stops anyone from looking ahead much further than the late-August beginning. More specifically, it never stops anyone from making their projections as to which teams will face off in specific bowl games following the season.

There are more bowl games than ever before these days, which makes it a little more difficult to predict who will end up where.

Well, the folks at Sporting News on Monday took their best stab at it, and with that, here’s a look at their preseason college football bowl season projections, minus the College Football Playoff.

Bahamas Bowl: Tulsa vs. Ohio

Camellia Bowl: Louisiana-Monroe vs. Buffalo

Boca Raton Bowl: Toledo vs. Middle Tennessee

Gildan New Mexico Bowl: Nevada vs. Texas-San Antonio

Famous Idaho Potato Bowl: Fresno State vs. Northern Illinois

Beef O’Brady’s Bowl St. Petersburg: Houston vs. Western Kentucky

Okay, it’s still a little weird to see “Bahamas Bowl” right there at the top, however it’ll be rather intriguing to watch the inaugural version of that game play out.
